Moroni’s Promise

on October 4, 2012

The Book of Mormon has a great and marvelous promise. It appears in the Book of Moroni, the last book within the Book of Mormon.

Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts. And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things. (Moroni 10:3-5)

Typically, those who investigate the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints ask God if the Book of Mormon itself is true, but we note that the prophet Moroni promised that by the Holy Ghost we “…may know the truth of all things.” This election season, a citizen might choose the better candidate of the two most likely to win the office they seek. Another citizen might choose the best candidate among all who run for the office including those with no chance of winning the race. Which of the two citizens truly did his Lord’s will? We assert that it is the citizen who supports the best candidate even if that candidate will surely not win the race. We invite you to apply Moroni’s promise to this assertion.
