“Mormons” Are Christians

Some people call The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and its members “Mormon” because we beleave in the Book of Mormon but the Church never officially embraced the label “Mormon” because it confuses some people into supposing that a “Mormon” is not a Christian. That a “Mormon” is a type of Christian is quite obvious to any person who sincerely studies the Book of Mormon. After all the book says Read the rest of this entry »

Brother and Sister as Titles

Back on September 14, 2012 we published a post on this blog entitled Reply to Serving, not Ruling part 1. This post on the Utah People’s Party blog was a response to some insightful comments that a blog author named Cole Ryan made on another blog. Our reply included the following paragraph.

“Behold, the Lord hath created the earth that it should be inhabited; and he hath created his children that they should possess it.” (1 Nephi 17:36) Since all people of every faith and nation inhabit the Earth, all are the  children of the Lord spoken of.  Since all are the Children of the Lord, all are brothers and sisters. Brotherhood of Man

“But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.” Job (32:8) This quote demonstrates that each person has a spirit. Obviously, each person also has a  physical body. This compound nature of man, we noted in an earlier post (Your Father is Perfect).

If we keep the commandments of God we are entitled to that inspiration, and if we live as the sons of God ought to live, we will have that inspiration, and nobody can prevent it, and the result will be our own physical and mental and moral development in mortality, and continued development throughout the ages of eternity. (Teachings of Presidents of the Church, George Albert Smith, p 119) Read the rest of this entry »

Reminder of Political Neutrality

For citizens who want to limit government and to include God in government, the Utah People’s Party is a better alternative than either the Republican or Democratic parties. The People’s Party seeks to conform to the teachings of our state’s majority religion that relate to politics or public policy. Because many churches teach similar moral standards and encourage similar, faith base approaches to life, the People’s Party is the closest fit for many believers in other religions as well. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will neither endorse nor oppose the People’s Party because doing either would be inconsistent with the Church’s political neutrality policy, which says that the Church does not endorse or oppose Political Parties.
